This past weekend was junior prom - a night that most girls, including myself dream of! As many people began being asked to prom, my first, and most important priority was figuring out what I was going to wear.
Immediately girls started searching the sites parkerny.com and revolveclothing.com, but I knew exactly what was going to happen. Everyone was going to have the same dresses. I was quite nervous about that issue so I literally searched the internet everyday for the perfect dress. Here's what I knew; I wanted it to be pink or purple and short. After days of online shopping, I came across a website that I had never heard before named shoptiques.com. The idea of the site is to create a way for anyone, anywhere, to shop tons of boutiques all around the country. (Surprisingly, I had thought and dreamed about creating a website that allow people to do exactly, but unfortunately someone beat me to the chase!) Anyways, the site is absolutely amazing with a huge, unique variety of pieces and a live chat with a personal stylist to figure out exactly what you want. There I ordered four dresses all to try on and find out which would fit best, but in the end I knew that Keepsake The Label's "When I Look Up" was the one I wanted!
CONTENDING DRESSES
Fortunately, it was one of the only ones that fit well, although I did have to get it altered as it had large arm holes that were cut too deeply. With it, I planned to wear nude heels, silver jewelry, and a black clutch. I kept the look pretty simplistic as the dress itself was a bit loud with the color and flounce. As for makeup, I did it myself and used this look of Lily Collin's as inspiration because of the pinkish tones, long lashes, soft pink lips, and rosy cheeks. I completely downplayed the dark tones in the eyes, but really focused on applying a good amount of mascara and curling my eyelashes as that is my facial feature I like to highlight and adding shimmer just as Lily has on the inner corners of my eyes. For hair, I rarely put my hair up, so I did not think that prom was a good time to wear it up and highly recommend to not do so if you do not feel comfortable. I wanted to achieve loose waves, but my hair is quite short for this and I did not want to shorten it anymore, so my hairdresser and I decided to go with soft curled ends that eventually straightened out as the night progressed, alone with a bit of the makeup.INSPIRATION FOR MAKEUP AND HAIR
From pre-prom to prom to post-prom, my group and I took a school bus to ride in style. At after prom it changed into black wax jeans, a white bandeau, an embellished blouse, and a low nude wedges (not pictured, but perhaps I'll post it later). Here are some photos of the nights!
FINAL LOOK
I was so excited to share with you all what my look encompassed that night and I would love to hear what your prom nights were like and what you wore?
xo, Paulina
