Oscar's Recap

Hi there!
The Oscar's dazzled me and many others from the performances to the interviews, but most importantly, the fashion. My prediction for the night was that it would be filled with pastels and metallics, which was only half correct as neutral dresses with embellishments ruled the red carpet! A lot more black gowns, than I thought, made appearances and each of them were streamlined and slimming. I predicted that pastels were would be popular because of the rising Spring season's trend and thought we would see tons of metallics and sparkles as we had seen at the Grammy's. Each were present, but many gowns featured a neutral tone with sparkle and embellishments, creating the ultimate princess, feminine dresses. Here were my favorite looks, which were also the ladies everyone had high expectations for.

Kerry Washington showed her baby bump in this sleek and modern dress by Andrew Wu. She kept jewelry and hair to a minimum, which made the dress embellishment and rich color became the focal point.

Kristen Bell's Roberto Cavalli gown was both feminine and beautifully structured! Very ladylike hairstyle and simplistic clutch finished the look.

Cate Blanchatt's Armani Prive nude embellished dress floated down the red carpet, as if she was part fairy! As it could be a challenging color to wear because it matches closely to skin tone, her dress was just the perfect shade darker with large beads scattered around.

Jennifer Lawrence, wearing Dior, was a popular favorite, as it fit her beautifully and was accented with an interesting, diamond studded necklace. The shocking red and the peplums at the hip were simple, yet made a statement.

Jessica Biel gets third best dressed as she wore this stunning runway Chanel Couture dress that had the perfect amount of sparkle. Diamond jewelry accented the gown and her hair was kept loose to feature everything else.

Naomi Watts donned a gorgeous Calvin Klein dress featuring tons of mini sparkles, reminding me of snow, almost like an ice princess! She gets second best dressed in my book! Her straight, sleek hair, matching the modern clutch and necklace perfected the look.

And the best dressed goes to Lupita N'yongo, in her custom Prada gown inspired by champagne bubbles and her home country. From the first time I saw a photo of her, I knew she would become a style icon for many. The spectacular flow and color of the gown, as well as the minimal headband and jewelry, made the ensemble absolutely perfect.

Wow! I think I listed all the women on the red carpet, because there were not many bad looks. The great thing about the red carpet is now we can translate our favorite looks into everyday outfits! Comment below what you thought of this year's Oscar fashion.
